I have simplified
this web site and removed many pages that were rarely viewed.
MIDI file listings on individual pages have been removed. See
the Download page or the files4Download
page for listing off all MIDI files available.
A new set
of MIDI files is now available. 4611 files for $220. Click
here for more information.
A new Ampico E-Roll CD is available
with1418 titles. Approximately 800 of these are different
from those offered by Peter Phillips. Approximately 145 are
B coded rolls. See the TO_ORDER page
for pricing and ordering.
The new E-Roll
Player system has been in production and is currently sold out.
Cost increases have forced me to consider a new design which is
currently under development. If produced, this new system will
have all the benefits of the current model but the mechanical
design will be somewhat different. The information referenced
here will still be relevant. If you are interested in buying an
E-Roll Player, in the future, the best way to receive status information
is to join the E-Roll Collectors Yahoo group.
Here is the information on the current
system which is currently sold out: I am very excited about this
new product and the fact that I am producing it on my own without
the "benefit"of a partner.Click
here to go to the page with specifications and a comparison
between the new and old systems. The preliminary manual for the
new system may be found at:
My Welte T100 format scanner is now operating
and I am anxious to scan these rolls. Please contact me if you
have any available.
A software E-Roll
MIDI File Player is now available. Links for the program and manual
are on the New New New Page.
I have written a new utility for adjusting
velocity and other parameters in MIDI files. It is simple and
powerful. Many features are included for adjusting MIDI files
for playback on the Disklavier as well as other systems. Additional
information is on the. New New New Page
Look here for the latest updates and click
the underlined text links to go directly to the relevant pages.
Don't forget to check the New New New
Page for the latest music too.

Digital
Piano Rolls are now available for collectors of Original Pneumatic
Player and Reproducing Pianos, as well as for owners of solenoid
operated electronic pianos, MIDI sound modules and synthesizers.
A variety
of options exist for adapting original pneumatic instruments to
play from MIDI tracker bar image files or from BAR/ANN files using
Wind or WindPlay. See the Midi Valve Page
for information on a new system. It is the simplest and most compact
unit to date and will require minimal modification to original
instruments. Other options involve the the use of standard organ
valves or custom configurations.
Owners of solenoid operated pianos such as the Yamaha Disklavier,
Piano Disk, PianoMation, and other pianos capable of playing standard
MIDI files, may use these files as well. WindPlay, in simulation
mode, will convert reproducing piano expression into MIDI velocities
for a convincing performance of these vintage masterpieces on
modern equipment. The Emulation CD files will play directly on
any MIDI device.
Use of these files is not limited to the owners of these expensive
pianos. Anyone with an electronic synthesizer, capable of playing
MIDI files, may use them as well. High end computer sound cards
can also produce excellent results, if they are capable of utilizing
digitally sampled "Sound Fonts." Creative Lab's "Live
and the AWE series are examples of such devices.
These files may be used as source material for many other uses
as well. The standard MIDI files may be imported into MIDI sequencers,
such as Cakewalk. There is no limit to what can be done.
No attempt has been made to limit access to the data. No special
software is needed to use the MIDI files. Any standard media player
will play these files and they can be used on PC or Mac computers.
Be sure
to check out the files listings on the Classical, Popular and
Variety pages as well as the downloadable file listings and sample
files on the "Downloads"
page. Other listings and utilities have been moved to the following
page: files4Download.
Any and
all inquiries will receive a prompt reply so please don't hesitate
to e-mail your questions. There is no such thing as a stupid question
when it comes to computers and related issues. There are stupid
answers, but I will try to avoid them, since you can get plenty
from certain computer program help files.
