A
new set of files is available for modern reproducing pianos
and for any standard MIDI device.
I
have spent over 9 months working with Geoff Ward to create a
program that fixes many of the deficiencies in file created by
the AI program A 2 M. This program converts audio recordings
of solo piano to MIDI files. However the files are less than
perfect. So Geoff and I worked together, me doing the
programming and Geoff checking and testing everything I wrote.
We developed a set of parameters that allowed the "Improve"
program to make very listenable music from the files created
by a 2 M.
I
bought a fast gaming computer and let the A 2 M program loose
on my collection of over 6000 solo piano recordings collected
over more than 20 years. I am also including the over 10000
files made by the developers of the A2M program which have
also been "improved" by my program.
This
new set of files is the result of that effort. All the
processing has been done automatically. Every effort has been
taken to avoid the inclusion of files that would not convert
well but there will invariably be some real clunkers. I can
not listen to 17000 files or I would never be able to make
this offering. I estimate that 5% of the files are total junk.
40% are well worth listening to, 30% are better than that and
may well become favorites and the rest range from very good to
amazing.
I
have decided to do not further checking and to offer the full
set of over 17000 files for the low price of $165
Here
are lists of all files included in the offering. Meta data is
sketchy. If there is enough demand I will put more time into
providing more inclusive meta data. However the files from the
A2M developers definitely do not have performer data and this
is not available. The meta data for my file is incomplete
because I ripped many of the CDs before tools to accurately
find this data was not available.
